Patrice Bergeron made a special appearance at Warrior Ice Arena on Friday, working on the ice with Bruins forwards Fraser Minten and Morgan Geekie before the team’s full practice.
This isn’t the first time the retired Bruins captain has come to work with the current team under coach Marco Sturm, who played alongside Bergeron from 2005-10.
“I try to get him out here every once in a while, just to give these guys some advice,” Sturm said. “He’s the best. I just want to take this opportunity to pick his brain.”
Bergeron focused on power play positioning and faceoff work with the young forwards. For Minten, a 21-year-old center who aspires to become the kind of two-way player Bergeron was, the session was invaluable.
“He knows a lot more than I do,” Minten said. “Anytime you can learn from one of the best, you’ll try to do it.” »
Geekie said Bergeron’s approach to the power play bumper position is something he has long admired.
“He kind of revolutionized the way it was played, being a threat to score as well as support everywhere,” Geekie said. “It’s always good when a legend like that teaches you a few things.”
Bergeron is a six-time Selke Trophy winner and ranks third on the Bruins’ all-time scoring list with 1,040 points. He played his entire 19-season career in Boston and won the Stanley Cup with the team in 2011 before retiring after the 2022-23 season.
When asked if Bergeron could eventually take on a more formal coaching role, Sturm gave a telling answer.
“In my opinion, I would say yes,” Sturm said. “But not now. He’s way too busy.”

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
